Description
I was a web programmer at Michigan Tech’s University Marketing and Communications department for three years. The department handles the university’s marketing, social media, and websites. I learned a lot from working in this very integrated department.
The website is currently using a CMS called OU campus. The base of this CMS is XSLT with PHP. I have worked on a lot of interesting projects over the years. Here you will find front-facing ones meaning parts of the site everyday users have access to. I could not share all the code for some of them but I shared what I could.
Software and Technology Used

Project Links and Descriptions
Mind Trekker Demonstrations Sorter
I built this sort for the Mind Trekkers website. This sorter allows people to search for any of their demonstrations. The demonstrations are stored in a google sheet. I used JavaScript to make Ajax request on a PHP file to get this to work. The PHP code uses a degree of fuzzy search to improve searching.
Research Project Sorter
I completely rebuilt this for the new CMS. It pulls from multiple databases to make a searchable list of all the current research projects.
Campus Directory
I rebuilt this tool using PHP, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. It loads search results via Ajax request and has a complicated set of filters.
Mentions
I created the generation and pagination for this page.
Chemstores Form
I rebuilt this form for the new CMS. It just sends out an email to the people that make the orders.
Admissions Staff
I updated the state of Wisconsin. I had to use Adobe Illustrator to make a new state map. I also had to update the PHP and Javascript that makes this work.
